A lifetime of experience as a magazine and newspaper writer and photographer, radio and television news producer and reporter, and guidebook author and editor, focusing on travel, automotive, lifestyle, environmental issues, consumer rights, and my hometown New York City. My articles have taken me to some 100 countries – one of these days I have to do a real country count.
I’ve been lucky to do the things I love — skiing, scuba diving, hiking — and write about them. Lucky to experience and write about the destinations on the ‘bucket lists’ of many of us, and lucky test-drive sportscars that others of us dream about.
New York City on the Cheap is about the deals, freebies and events to help make living in or visiting NYC less expensive and more fun. NYC on the Cheap also is the name of my smartphone app, available both on iTunes and Google Play. Sign up here for daily alerts.
Travel: My travel articles have appeared in USA Today, Continental Airlines Magazine, Yahoo News, UAL Hemispheres, Budget Travel, AAA Car & Travel, New York Post, Luxury Travel Advisor, Business Week, and websites including FoxNews.com, SmarterTravel.com, RandMcNally.com, About.com and Triporati.com.
Automotive: I write a syndicated newspaper column for Motor Matters, published in some 30 newspapers and webzines in North America, and as of 2013, I’m a regular contributor to AOL Autos and Autoblog Green. Some of my automotive articles also appear on Examiner.com, where I’m the Green Car Examiner. I’ve also written about cars and automotive safety for the New York Times, New York Post, New York Daily News, Associated Press, Family Circle and Redbook.
