A lifetime of experience as a magazine and newspaper writer and photographer, radio and television news producer and reporter, and guidebook author and editor, focusing on travel, automotive, lifestyle, and the environment. My articles have taken me to some 100 countries – one of these days I have to do a real country count. I’ve been lucky enough to do the things I love — skiing, scuba diving, hiking — and write about them. Lucky to experience and write about the destinations on the ‘bucket lists’ of many of us, and lucky test-drive sportscars that others of us dream about. I’ve been writing about the environment since long before it was fashionable.

Automotive: I write a syndicated newspaper column for Motor Matters, published in some 30 newspapers in the US and Canada, and my automotive articles also appear on Examiner.com, where I’m the Green Car Examiner. I’ve also written about cars and automotive safety for the New York Times, New York Post, New York Daily News, Associated Press, Family Circle and Redbook. Many of my articles also can be found on the website EarthGarage.com, where I am a guest blogger.

Books: I’m the author and photographer of three guidebooks. My newest book, Peaceful Places in New York City: 129 Tranquil Sites in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, published April 2010. And, I’ve contributed to and edited more than a dozen other travel guidebooks for several publishers including Michelin, Fodor’s and Dorling Kindersley (DK Guides).
